And Then It Rained.

I don't have too many stories this week, because it was pretty average! Average meaning, chased by dogs, creepy house tracting, and finding weaves on the side of the road.

So last night we decided it was a good time to go to the park and draw the plan of salvation with sidewalk chalk!! It was awesome!! It looked really cute and we had fun drawing it, ending it with "find out more at mormon.org". We went home and to bed, and in the morning we heard a dreadful thing outside our window.....rain. It rained. It's still raining. So there goes our plan of salvation :) but all is well!! We'll just do it again!! Because we're missionaries, and no effort is wasted!!

Another thing is P CAME TO CHURCH!!!! I can't remember if I've written about him before, but he is Dominican and so awesome. We gave him a triple (with Book of Mormon, D&C and Pearl of great price) and he LOVES IT. Not to mention, he made a whole timeline of all the events in the early history of the church, like the first vision and when the church was founded, up until the saints made it to the salt lake valley. He wrote it in Spanish (he doesn't know english) and he said he did it because we needed to practice our Spanish! We've been trying to get him to come to church for ages, and he finally came!! He LOVED it!! We gave him a church tour and he was basically telling us all the stories of the paintings, (even the BoM ones!!!!!!). He is so intelligent and he loves to learn about the church, but he really needs to gain a testimony. We are having a lesson with the Elders on Tuesday with P and also M (who was just baptized and confirmed this last weekend) and hopefully we can help him gain a testimony :) I love teaching him, he calls me "Profesora" or "Hermana Harry Potter" because of my glasses.

I also have been playing the piano for the branch sacrament meetings, so that's a growing experience. Never sweated so much during sacrament meeting. ANYWAY. That's all for this week. I love being a missionary!!

Tonight we were invited to a family home evening and I'm so excited to go and teach them about how to make their home a temple, and how important it is to have a safe place to live away from the storm of the world!! If you ever have the time, I would highly suggest inviting the missionaries to do a family home evening. :)

Love you all!!!

Transfer Week!

My transfer news is..... I'm staying here!!! With my wonderful trainer :) Hermana W and I are going to stay in Altadena for  more weeks.

So we had stake conference this past weekend and it was crazy. Because they asked the missionaries to translate the talks!!! It was pretty terrifying and it stressed me out forever. But I didn't have to do anything because the more experienced missionaries and also people who had known Spanish for more than 3 months were there to help. I was super grateful for that, because I knew that if I tried to translate into Spanish, all the branch would get out of the talks would be a bunch of uuuuuhhh and yo se......uh.......salvador......!!!! So yeah, I'm grateful. Hopefully at some time in the future I will be able to speak enough Spanish to do that, but at the moment it is a large stretch.

The adult session of stake conference was awesome!! I want to share something I wrote down. It's about the story of the man stricken with palsy, and Christ heals him. Then He says, thy sins be forgiven thee! and the Pharisees are all like, Who is this guy, that he thinks he can forgive sin?? No one but God can forgive sin!!!

How does that make you feel? We know that Jesus was the Son of God and we know he forgives sins. I always want to take that guy by the shirt and say "Don't you know who He is????" Now think of a trial you're suffering with. Sometimes people think that they have to suffer alone, and they draw away from the savior and they do suffer alone. But you don't have to do that!!! You are being just like the Pharisees who doubt the Savior. Don't you know who He is?? Don't you know that he suffered everything that we suffer in this life so that he knows what it feels like??? Don't you know that He loves you more than you can comprehend?? (okay, I'll let go of your shirt now)

I know that you and I can do ANYTHING through the savior. I know that He sees our true potential, and He only wants to help us get there. I love this mission and I love this gospel!! And I love all of you!!!!!!!

This week...

Was pretty average. We met a lot of cool people, got bashed by a drunk spanish guy, had dinner with an awesome family, and drew a little with some chalk.

We headed to (basically the ghetto) to have dinner. They were a really awesome family, and one of their daughters is preparing for a mission!! Her mom doesn't speak English, so she told us all about it in front of her- it's going to be a surprise :)

Yesterday the elders quorum came into the relief society and sang Love one Another, and gave us all roses :) it was fun!

We were kind of at a loss of what to do one day, when we found a box of chalk in the closet at our apartment!! So we went to a park and drew the plan of salvation, with the bottom saying "find out more @ mormon.org". We were pretty proud of our work, I didn't have my camera, so we just left it there. It rained 20 minutes later :) Such is life!! We have a lot of fun. We plan to bring a member who has a dog to the dog park to do some contacting.

That's all for this week. Sorry it's so short!! I love y'all! Until next week :)

Keep it up girls! Walking with Jesus!

Exchanges with the STLs?

A lady said that to us last week.

Last week!! We went on exchanges with the STLs and it was awesome. We spent the day in their area and it was the BEST DAY EVER. We met this wonderful woman who at first it seemed like she was going to turn us away, but then she started telling us her life story and then she was crying and we were crying and we each gave her a hug for like 5 minutes!! I love her so much. I shared Helaman 5:12 with her and gave her a Book of Mormon. She said she felt like the book was going to be her best friend. She accepted another appointment but I'm super bummed because that's not my area and I don't get to teach her. But there are awesome people here too that I can teach!!

Exchanges day?

We went to the Noche de Hogar at a members house (they're super awesome members, they do this every week and invite the missionaries to bring their investigators) and we shared with them an AWESOME  message. We talked about our divine potential and you could really feel the spirit, one investigator even started crying!! It was super touching. Then the family fed us homemade donuts and TRES LECHES CAKE (my new favorite cake) and some sort of Mexican hot chocolate. It was really awesome!!

We taught P again and he said that he wanted me to teach the lesson next week because he liked my accent when I said the opening prayer. I don't talk much during his lessons, mostly because I don't have a clue what he's saying. But I told him that I'd only teach the lesson IF he attended church!! We all had a good laugh and I think he will, and so I will be teaching the lesson next week :) He is really progressing and I can't wait to see him baptized.

We were tracting on Saturday and met a guy who I thought was super shady looking, but that just proved to me that you shouldn't judge people by their appearances because we saw him yesterday and his baggy clothes and cigarettes were gone, and when we taught him the restoration he got SO EXCITED!! He understood a lot (we think) and I could feel the spirit. We invited him to pray to know if our message was true, and we asked if he would be baptized if he did find out if it was true and he answered "Yes" (kind of the way you say, Duh!!) it was so cool. He's really busy during the week and so we plan to do a phone lesson and then see him again on Saturday.

I really like Sundays because it seems like I see the most miracles then!!
I love you all!! I also love ALABAMA!!
