Athens!!!..... Alabama?

That's my next area! Yup, transfers are this week and that's where I'm headed. Altadena, Albertville, Athens. What are the chances that my whole mission will be in alphabetical order?

So this week we went to an AWESOME patriotic concert in Huntsville. We had 2 investigators come and sit with us. It was held in the church, and it had a 100-voice choir and an army band ( I can't remember the name.). They sang and played beautifully, and they ended with my FAVORITE arrangement of Battle Hymn of the Republic. Everyone just felt so patriotic after the concert, and we made BLT's after (that's American.......right?) And then we had our transfer calls!

The fireflies are starting to come out. It's so magical!! Like the beginning of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland. I caught one, and boy are they freaky looking. It's still really cool when they glow, though :)

I've spent the last few days packing up and saying goodbye to the ward members. I will never forget some of these people!! I love this ward and the area I'm in :) I'm so excited to see what Athens is like (also a little nervous, but when am I not?) and meet all the people there too :)

I love you all!!!

Life is hard, and then you die.

That is a quote from President Ford, ( One of President Sainsbury's councilors). He gave a talk this last Sunday, and it was very good.

Other things that President Ford said:
"Sometimes life is really hard, and you still die"
"If it doesn't kill you, it wasn't hard enough"
"Blessed are the flexible, they will not be bent out of shape"

He talked about member missionary work! One of my favorite things he said was, "Missionaries are called to teach, not find. The finding is the members' job." All missionaries chuckled at that, but it's so true. He gave a statistic, that if the state of Alabama had 1000 baptisms every week, it would take 80 years for the whole state to be converted. That is a lot of work!! It made me realize the urgency of this work too. Alabama isn't even the most populated state!!!!

Making Cotton Candy

This week the Guntersville Ward had a carnival for the primary children. I made cotton candy for a loooooong time. I learned not to wear nice clothes when doing so, also the shield is there for a reason. But hey, you learn something new every day :)

I love my mission!! It is so hard, but I know it will be so rewarding.
I love you all!! Until next week!

"You're gonna suffer, but you're gonna be happy about it"- Ron Weasley

Hello all!! This week in Alabama was good. Albertville is still green as ever. I guess I should explain the title: It's getting hot. So, we're suffering because of the heat. But we're serving the Lord!! So we're happy about it :) It's hard not to complain and I really just want to stay inside all day, but I know that we'll be blessed for our sacrifices!!

I want to share an experience!! I was all ready for bed, and reading the Ensign. As I was reading, I pondered in my heart what I read. As I was pondering, the Holy Ghost told me in my heart that it was true. I know that the Holy Ghost is the comforter, because I have felt so much comfort when I pray for it!! (I included these two quotes that our mission president shared with us this week in his email.)

I love you all!!! Have a good week!!!

“The standard is clear. If something we think, see, hear, or do distances us from the Holy Ghost, then we should stop thinking, seeing, hearing, or doing that thing. If that which is intended to entertain, for example, alienates us from the Holy Spirit, then certainly that type of entertainment is not for us. Because the Spirit cannot abide that which is vulgar, crude, or immodest, then clearly such things are not for us. Because we estrange the Spirit of the Lord when we engage in activities we know we should shun, then such things definitely are not for us.” David A. Bednar, That We May Always Have His Spirit to be With Us, Ensign, April 2006

“As we draw near to Heavenly Father, we become more holy. And as we become more holy, we will overcome disbelief and our souls will be filled with His blessed light. As we align our lives with this supernal light, it leads us out of darkness and toward greater light. This greater light leads to the unspeakable ministerings of the Holy Spirit, and the veil between heaven and earth can become thin.” Dieter F. Uchtdorf

June??

Can y'all believe it's already June??

This week was really good. I kind of have a fear of tracting because of being shy and the like, so I have just been gritting my teeth and doing it, so we have been finding a lot more. I also am trying not to worry about offending people and just talking to them.

So, we met a really nice couple a few weeks ago. They are neighbors to a lady we talked to previously and she said we could come to her house and talk to her. So she wasn't home, and we had a really good conversation with this Baptist couple, and then she got home and we said goodbye to them. We walked next door and she came out with her hands on her hips and basically told us to 'not try and sell her a book of mormon' and that she believed in God and Heaven and Hell. We were taken by surprise and then she told us she was Wiccan. She told us all about the magic she practices and her coven and stuff. She also told us to 'look around, I guarantee you'll find a religion you like better." So we politely said goodbye and rode our bikes away as fast as we could.

So this was a few weeks ago, and this week we decided to go back and visit the baptist couple. They hadn't seemed very interested but it was the end of the day and we listened to the spirit and we ended up on that street. They invited us in immediately and expressed how upset they were at their neighbor for treating us that way! They are super sweet and we talked for a bit and she gave us muffins and we shared a scripture and we'll be going back to visit them this week :) So, sometimes being yelled at isn't all bad.

We also met another baptist couple who had kittens that we took pictures with before we knocked on their door. They let me use their bathroom and gave us each a bottle of water :)
So the lesson this week is to drink lots of water so you can get into peoples houses and use their bathrooms(also so you don't die from the heat because it's so hot and only getting hotter) , and also that southern hospitality is not a myth :)

I love you all!!
